User Roles
Learn about the role system in Altitude and how to manage permissions for your virtual airline.
We designed a simple but powerful role system to help you and your team run your Virtual Airline with ease. Whether you're the CEO, part of the executive board, or a staff member keeping daily operations flowing, our role system ensures that everyone has the right tools to succeed.
Executive Roles
These are the top-level roles reserved for you as CEO and your trusted executive board members.
Owner
The Owner role is the highest authority in Altitude.
- Full control over all crew center features: user management, routes, fleet, PIREPs, events, and more.
- Designed for the CEO or VA Founder.
Admin
Admins enjoy nearly full access across the crew center, but with one safeguard: they cannot remove other Admins from their role.
- Perfect for COOs or other board members you trust deeply.
- They can manage operations, staff, and pilots without risking unnecessary power struggles.
- If you need ultimate flexibility and control, this is the role to assign.
Users
The Users role is best suited for your HR team or CHRO.
- Manage onboarding: approve or decline new members.
- Assign roles to staff and pilots.
- Keep your VA community organized and running smoothly.
Management Roles
These are the day-to-day operational roles. Staff can hold more than one role depending on your VA's structure.
-
PIREP Manager
Keeps pilot hours accurate by reviewing, approving, or rejecting flight reports. Ensures flights follow your VA's rules. -
Fleet Manager
Maintains your VA and codeshare fleet. Adds or removes aircraft so your pilots always have the correct aircraft available. -
Routes Manager
Oversees your route database. Adds, updates, or removes routes so pilots always have fresh and accurate route choices. -
Events Manager
Plans and manages VA events. Assigns routes, aircraft, and flight plans so your community can enjoy seamless event experiences. -
Multiplier Manager
Handles route multipliers, such as for "Route of the Week." Keeps rewards, incentives, and special flights engaging. -
Ranks Manager
Builds and maintains your rank structure. Ensures pilots have a clear, motivating path to climb through your VA's ranks.
Why roles matter
With Altitude, you can customize who does what in your VA without overcomplicating things. From CEOs to new staff members, everyone has the right tools to keep your virtual airline thriving.
Pro Tip
You can assign multiple management roles to a single staff member. For example, one person could be both your Routes Manager and Events Manager if your VA structure allows it.
